Taller Creativo of Caguas

By Christian Ostorga

Easily one of the most entertaining teams to watch, this rookie team from Caguas is ready to make their presence known.

Characterized by their trademark jovial spirit, synchronized energy and flawless teamwork— Taller Creativo Preescolar Elemental has brought a fresh perspective to FIRST LEGO League PR unlike any other.

As fitting as their name, the gang of 10 have developed quickly through intensive work and creativity with an attention to detail and organization worth noticing. The selfless, positive attitude of these young programmers might as well be a direct reflection of their coaches and mentors whom have equally shared the distribution and responsibilities of their team.

  • Lourdes Rivera, a 5-year STEM teacher (4-6th grade) whose main focus has been the robot game.
  • Vivian Acevedo, a 4-year preschool teacher whose primary role has been the Core Values.
  • Emmanuelle Soto Rios, a 7-year Technology, Values and English teacher (1-6th grade) whose specialty has been the investigative project.

The trio of coaches and mentors have shaped their students into solid contenders in every possible category.

When asked why FIRST LEGO League, Lourdes generously offered her testimonial:

“In my second year at the school, my directors gave me the opportunity to take the robotics certification with EV3. After 3 years of teaching robotics, I wasn’t aware of FIRST LEGO League until the director received an email and quickly informed me. I was going to go alone just to listen but when I was at the presentation (Open House) in Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola, Puerto Rico, I knew it was the best decision I could make. I was also doing my practice as a director for my second Masters in Management – Leadership and I wanted to do something impactful. I think it has been the best experience in my career and I hope it will be many more! FIRST LEGO League has impacted students on independent work, leadership, fellowship and creativity! Many of my third and fourth grade students have already spoken to me about next year and how they will do what is necessary to belong to the team! Thank you for the opportunity!”

No words.

We couldn’t be more thankful for Taller Creativo’s investment in our program, and can’t wait to see what this team full of vibrant beings has in store!

Do not miss them this Saturday, February 2 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center.
